Our step by step process of restoring pavers and applying a natural look finish
01/14
Adding or having patio pavers make a beautiful addition. We find many don't know pavers should be sealed, not only to preserve the surface but to maintain the stability of them. We use a sealer that penetrates the brick and joint sand hardening the sand and creating a durable surface that will last years. Choosing not to seal your brick pavers will cause surface degradation, and lead to substrate erosion causing unevenness.
How do we do it you might be asking? We begin by thoroughly cleaning the surface. We do this by using professional equipment capable of getting to 250 degrees F. After we clean the surface and remove any stains we add an additional solution containing our weed and mold inhibitor allowing a small dwell time. We then sand with a properly graded paver joint silica sand using a process called wet sanding, also known as hydocompacting, allowing the sand to fill all the voids around and under the pavers. Once complete, we add 3 coats of our professional grade sealer. The first coat is called the flood coat. We "flood" the pavers with a specifically formulated sealer to penetrate the joints of the pavers to solidify and stabilize the joint sand into the base causing it to harden similar to polymeric sand. We then apply 2 more top coats for a hard durable surface. In addition, for pool areas we add a non slip additive that in most cases makes the surface more slip resistant than before the surface was sealed. Expect to get about 5 years of life. Important: Any shine is highly dependent on the porosity of surface being treated. That being said we do offer a gloss, and natural look respectively. For newly constructed pavers we recommend you wait at least a couple weeks or more so the pavers have a chance to settle and the PH to stabilize.

Option 1 covers a high pressure cleaning and an application of the weed and mold inhibitor usually done after 1 year, and a visual inspection of the entire surface. The cost is around 30% of the cost of initial service.
Option 2 covers a high pressure cleaning and an application of the weed and mold inhibitor, a visual inspection, paver sand touched up, another coat of sealer applied. Usually done 2 years after. The cost is around 60% on the initial service.
Natural finish
Innovative Concretes Ure-Seal H2O is a 2-part environmentally friendly water reducible, crystal clear, aliphatic/non aromatic urethane. We find this product to be superior. It is a high performance clear coating that can be used inside or out to protect and enhance any properly prepared decorative concrete, brick pavers, and many other concrete & masonry surfaces for years of service.
Ure-Seal H2O has excellent abrasion and chemical resistance with a gloss, or natural finish (Keep in mind that the ‘Gloss’ blend will appear as semi-gloss when applied on brick pavers). The mild odor makes it ideal for interior applications. Ure-Seal H2O will not yellow and will form a very hard protective coating for high traffic areas, counter tops, restaurants, decorative concrete & brick pavers. Ure-Seal H2O can be used over epoxy flooring, garage floors, anywhere that high durability and superior chemical resistance is required.
